February is moving right along, the COVID vaccinations are rolling out, and there is a freshness to the air in multiple ways, so here's to a much better 2021 than 2020 for all my musician friends! So much good fingerstyle guitar music is being produced these days by incredible and talented musicians, and I'm here to put a smile on their faces every Monday morning!

Daryl Shawn, an incredibly talented fingerstyle artist himself, makes my job easy as he sorts through all the new releases each week and chooses a new "top ten" featuring a representative current best in the world of fingerstyle and adds the new top ten to "The most exciting playlist on Spotify" every Monday morning! "This Week in Fingerstyle" curated by Daryl Shawn is where you'll find the absolute best that true "Indie" has to offer in the world of fingerstyle! Daryl does all the selecting of the tunes, I just make a few comments. Put your headphones on or AirPods in and disappear into these wonderful sounds as we check out what gems Daryl found for us this week! "This Week" now has over 500 "Followers" enjoying this weekly treat!

First up this week is "Peaceful Penny", by the incredible Joel Saunders! "Peaceful" indeed with a brilliant sound that flows! And the harmonics are stunning! Wonderful way to start my Monday morning Joel, thanks!!

"Brightstone Paths" by Peter Crutchfield is a beautifully romantic piece that somehow reminds me of "Breakfast at Tiffany's". Just delightful! If you have a partner to slow dance with, pull them close and relish in this beautiful sound! And if you don't currently have a partner to slow dance with, put this piece on and I'm sure you'll find one quickly!

"To You" by my friend Peter Lainson is delightful! Staying right on that razor's edge precipice of "folk/new age" sound, Peter nails it! A little romance, a little reflection, just a touch of melancholy, but a happy feeling throughout! Like a walk on the beach on a fine summer's day!

"Sheebeg Sheemore" by the incomparable Celtic artist Stephen Wake is a tremendous rendition of this Turlough O'Carolan classic. Having been done by just about every fingerstyle artist who ever ventures into Celtic music, Stephen's wide-ranging skills bring something new to this piece. On Stephen's fingers this piece flows more gently than the often "harsher" renditions of "Sheebeg & Sheemore". I've played this piece for decades, but can never manage to control it with the beautiful sliding runs that Stephen manages here. Check this one out for sure! I'm sure Turlough is smiling somewhere with a nice tumbler of fine Scotch in hand!

"Lagrima" by Jens Hausmann is a delightful & luscious rendition of this Francisco Tárrega classic! Wow! Jens' articulation is perfect on every note and the passion just oozes with each phrase. This is a delicious rendition of this often rushed piece! Bravo Jens! I love it so much I just added it to my "Peaceful Acoustic" playlist!

"Pantheon" by Elson Complex is a spacious sounding open piece that gives you the feeling it was actually recorded at the Pantheon! What a beautiful piece! Next time I am in Rome and visiting this timeless structure, I'm bringing my AirPods and letting these beautiful sounds allow me to see the Pantheon in a much more intimate way!

"Going Nowhere" by HomeGrown Ed has a compelling John Fahey sound to it that perks up your ears as you enjoy this complex mesh of notes that come together like a perfect soufflé. Well done!

"You Broke Me First" by egorgtsw is stunning! A sound that has the perfection of today's finest fingerstyle artists, it just pulls me in, grabs me and won't let go! Can't get enough of this sound!

"To The Coast of Ceylon" by Daniel Kaede is a beautiful story told in music. Listening to this I can't help but start dreaming of far-off lands and adventures that await! Beautiful!

"Castaway" is a wonderful way to close out "This Week's" newest top ten. Alan Shoesmith takes us away as castaways to the most beautiful and peaceful island, where you know that "rescue" will come far too soon! Delightful Alan!

And don't stop there! Remember that all the past selections follow the new top ten starting with "Bone Cave" by Steve Dawson! Enjoy and keep listening!

Daryl Shawn, thank you again for making my Monday mornings a very special and exciting part of every week! And for highlighting the talents of these brilliant artists who work and struggle so hard just to share their beautiful music with the world!

And that's it for another "This Week in Fingerstyle" by Daryl Shawn who every week puts together "the most exciting playlist on Spotify"!

Remember to "Follow/Heart/Like" the playlist that Daryl Shawn so painstakingly creates every week and "Follow/Heart/Like" the artists that give you their all each week!
