February 15th, nestled in between Valentine's Day and Mardi Gras! Even in the midst of so much celebration and revelry, there is still time to check out the music! So much good fingerstyle guitar music is being produced these days by incredible and talented musicians, and I'm here to put a smile on their faces every Monday morning!

Daryl Shawn, an incredibly talented fingerstyle artist himself, makes my job easy as he sorts through all the new releases each week and chooses a new "top ten" featuring a representative current best in the world of fingerstyle and adds the new top ten to "The most exciting playlist on Spotify" every Monday morning! "This Week in Fingerstyle" curated by Daryl Shawn is where you'll find the absolute best that true "Indie" has to offer in the world of fingerstyle! Daryl does all the selecting of the tunes, I just make a few comments. Put your headphones on or AirPods in and disappear into these wonderful sounds as we check out what gems Daryl found for us this week! "This Week" now has over 500 "Followers" enjoying this weekly treat!

First up this week is "Memories of Home" by two incomparable musicians: Casper Esmann & Collin Hill! I marvel each time either of these guys comes out with a new tune, but to have them together is an extra treat! Inimitable guitar skills, beautiful melody, and they mesh together like the swirl on the top of a fine cappuccino! This one is really beautiful! Bravo guys!

"Diamonds" by the Dylan Ryche is indeed as brilliant and clear as a fine diamond! Stunning display of composition and execution! Wow, just wow!

"Receiving" by Andrew York reminds us of how difficult it is to play a slow, sparsely-noted tune: there is no where to hide and every note and movement of the hands and fingers must be perfect. No problem for the master! Captivating and fulfilling, Andrew's music always thrills and this one is another in that beautiful line!

My friend Mathew Joseph does a truly superb cover of the classic "Morning Has Broken". Lovely to hear Mathew on nothing but nylon here! A truly innovative musician and composer, with so many pieces out there that it is difficult not to lose track, Mathew gave us a wonderful and unique "Lagrima" on the steel string and now all the way to the other end of the spectrum with "Morning Has Broken" on nylon! Always seeing something that the rest of us might miss, Mathew is always a joy to listen to. Thank for this beautiful "Morning" Mathew!

"Lose Yourself to Dance" by Luca Stricagnoli is another of Luca's "high energy" pieces with a beat that compels you to get up and dance! So if this one comes on the radio anyplace you happen to be, don't be surprised when the room or sidewalk explodes into spontaneous dance and everything else becomes invisible for 2:58! Groovin' Luca!

Lance Allen pulls off this cover of a cover by Johnny Cash both hauntingly and almost tearfully. Digging deep into that emotional well Lance shows us that the guitar alone can stop us in our tracks even without the iconic voice. Johnny Cash was only a year away from leaving this earth when he recorded this anguish-filled song and had a full life of love and loss to draw on. Lance does this genuine angst justice with just his guitar. Tremendous depth Lance!

"Purple" by the four masterful hands of Agustin Amigó & Denis Turbide is simply wonderful! Reminding me of both grand vistas and lavender fields, this is a "happy" song that reflects both age and wisdom: the "contentment" of two men who have lots of experience to draw on and the skill to turn that into music. I love "Purple"! It's no wonder both these guys routinely end up on "Peaceful Guitar!" Thank you Agustin and Denis!

"Grow Old With You" by Dustin Hanusch covers a song by Adam Sandler & Tim Herlihy in a beautiful and touching way! Better than the original! Well done!

"Quietly" is by one of Tommy Berre's other monikers "August Flendahl," and "August" has that same sweet, melancholic but hopeful sound that Tommy personifies. Each new piece is a joy to listen to. Check out "Quietly" and the rest of August Flendahl's & Tommy Berre's work, you'll be sure to enjoy your time!

"Feeling' Groovy" by Jim "Kimo" West is a tremendous rendition of the classic: true to the original in a way that just makes you smile and know that everything is going to be "Ono"! All that time in the islands has indeed helped shape the music of a groovy guy! Wonderful Jim!

And don't stop there! Remember that all the past selections follow the new top ten starting with Benjamin Britten's "Nocturnal" played by Dale Kavanaugh! Enjoy and keep listening!

Daryl Shawn, thank you again for making my Monday mornings a very special and exciting part of every week! And for highlighting the talents of these brilliant artists who work and struggle so hard just to share their beautiful music with the world!

And that's it for another "This Week in Fingerstyle" by Daryl Shawn who every week puts together "the most exciting playlist on Spotify"!
