July is almost over! Wow, this year seems to be going by quickly! Daryl Shawn keeps us up to date on the latest in fingerstyle with a new top ten of the best in fingerstyle guitar each week! The world is still bruised from the COVID crisis but the music is flowing! Thanks Daryl for helping to keep us going and entertained during this time and all the rest of the year!

"The most exciting playlist on Spotify" reloaded again for a great Monday morning! "This Week in Fingerstyle" curated by Daryl Shawn is where you'll find the absolute best that true "Indie" has to offer in the world of fingerstyle! Daryl does all the selecting of the tunes, I just make a few comments. Put your headphones on or AirPods in and disappear into these wonderful sounds as we check out what gems Daryl found for us this week! "This Week" now has over 500 "Followers" enjoying this weekly treat!

First up Jürg Kindle tackles "Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata" and it is stunningly beautiful! This enduring classic translates wonderfully from piano to guitar in the hands of the talented Jürg Kindle! A wonderful piece to wake up to this Monday morning!

"In This Moment" by Ken Verheecke is signature Ken making the strings dance and sing! As close as you can get to leaving the tethers of this earth and just floating aimlessly among the clouds. Always beautiful Ken!

"Nightly Garden Walk" by Ross Hammond and Lori Goldston is beautiful steel guitar with an echoing cello. Hauntingly beautiful with just a hint of grit!

"Horizon Eyes" by Alan Gogoll is sweet, beautiful and melodic with his incomparable display of exquisite harmonics and complete mastery of that wonderful sounding guitar!

"Slowly Stepping Forward" has Alan Shoesmith stepping forward from a full career as an educator into his own light as a full-time creator and entertainer! Just a hint of melancholy as one stage of life fades and another comes into view. And the sun is shining happily in that new view for all of us!

"Numina" by Andrew York is not only beautiful, but technically perfect with a mathematical precision. Few master this instrument as well as Andrew York and the fifty or so years at the front of the "guitar movement" show in every detail of this beautiful and eloquent piece.

"Take on Me" is a lovely new cover by Liad Abraham who has a style that makes me sit and smile with every new piece he gives us. A signature style that is exquisite, Liad manages to enhance whatever he is giving us in a way that always leads me inevitably to follow the links to "This is Liad Abraham" and enjoy an hour or two of guitar perfection and sonic jewels!

And one of my favorite guitarists and composers is Tommy Berre who this week gives us "Awakened". Tommy has a sense of beauty on nylon strings that few manage to emulate. His music is beautiful and uplifting without being overly sweet and manages to always make my day brighter! How he can do this almost every week is a mystery, but one that I am happy occurs almost every week! Thank you Tommy for another beauty!

"Day 11 - Sele" is another in Jürgen Saalmann's musical journey through Europe. Each piece of these 14 days captures a different sight and sound in beautiful music. If you have been stuck at home for a while during this lockdown, Jürgen Saalmann offers a wonderful 14 day trip in music that will make you forget all about "lockdown". Enjoy the ride!

And to close out the new top ten, Lance Takamiya gives us a beautiful, flowing piece with "Pastel Paradise" that takes you immediately to the tropics and creates that beautiful feeling that seems to just ooze from every aspect of life at that latitude. Mahalo Lance!

And don't stop there! Remember that all the past selections follow the new top ten starting with "The Nomad" by Calum Graham! So much beautiful music on this list, it is rather amazing and it grows ten new pieces each week!

Daryl Shawn, thank you again for making my Monday mornings a very special and exciting part of every week!

And that's it for another "This Week in Fingerstyle" by Daryl Shawn who every week puts together "the most exciting playlist on Spotify"!
