In the midst of the continuing COVID-19 "worldwide madness" out there, it seems even more important to find some normalcy in our routines: Daryl Shawn has come through for us again with "This Week in Fingerstyle" on time and beautiful as always!

"The most exciting playlist on Spotify" reloaded again for a great Monday morning! "This Week in Fingerstyle" curated by Daryl Shawn is where you'll find the absolute best that true "Indie" has to offer in the world of fingerstyle! Daryl does all the selecting of the tunes, I just make a few comments. Put your headphones on or AirPods in and disappear into these wonderful sounds as we check out what gems Daryl found for us this week! "This Week" now has over 500 "Followers" enjoying this weekly treat!

First up is "If Only", a duo by Matteo Palmer & Trevor Gordon Hall, and Wow! The song is beautiful, the guitar playing is perfect and what perhaps stands out the most is the sheer brilliance of the recording! I'm unsure whether this is another Imaginary Road Studio album, but the recording quality/sound here is stunning making for a world-class piece on what I'm sure is a world-class album. I can't wait to sink my teeth into the whole album! Nice work Matteo & Trevor! (Update: Matteo confirms that he recorded and produced this album himself! Tremendous work Matteo!)

"From Now On" by Luca Stricagnoli will get you up and moving even if "lockdown" has you going to work at home! Luca has truly perfected the modern percussive techniques aspect of fingerstyle and it is a treat to revel in any of his pieces. Such incredible use of harmonics and percussion!

"Ylja" by Elgafar (Tommy Berre) is another laid-back, folky, happy tune. Tommy has really managed to capture the quintessence of folk through fingerstyle with the Elgafar moniker. Just good, solid music that makes you feel great!

"Second Coming" by Ulli Boegershausen is a beautiful steel-string piece that just sort of floats and skips through the clouds at an elevation high enough to forget the ground below. This one will have you looking up and smiling!

"Celtic Fantasy" by Jürg Kindle is a tremendous Celtic piece by the incredible Jürg Kindle with Celtic and seafaring influences. It's a heavy piece that captures the long, proud Celtic history and diverse music. If I'm ever sitting in the Irish Highlands looking out to sea with longing, this is the piece I will play!

"Shimmering Sands" is the collaboration between the diversely talented Mathew Joseph and me! A slightly exotic piece that captures the essence of it's name: envision stumbling upon a Bedouin camp at the edge of a desert oasis complete with palm trees and succulent dates after a long tredge through the shimmering desert sands! We managed to get a nice shimmering feel to this one and the guitars play nicely off of each other. It was an honor to work with this master of the guitars thousands of miles away in his current home of Toowoomba, Australia.

"Tender Love" by Thomas Coleman is a wonderful upbeat romantic piece like time spent on a Parisian park bench! Just lovely!

"Reggy" by Marcel Springorum is an amazing piece that wanders through many influences and shows off Marcel's unlimited diversity. A meander from Baroque to Beatles all in the space of 1:15! Wow! I will be listening to more of Marcel's work later: incredibly intriguing!

"Soothing Skies" is the latest by Scottish born Stephen Wake and it is airy, full and inspiring! Stephen is a master and manages to coax everything out of the guitar that is possible. No percussive distraction from this wonderful artist, Stephen is all lilting runs and beautiful melody executed in a way that manages to take all the harshness out of the guitar as though he has found a guitar with strings of brilliant sounding pillows! Can't say enough good about Stephen's work!

"867-5309 Jenny" by Kurt Lanham is a cover of the 1981 Tommy Tutone hit. So if you don't recognize this, you are probably under 50! A really wonderful job of capturing the essence of this classic from the "big hair" days of the 80's! Nice guitar work Kurt!

And don't stop there! Remember that all the past selections follow the new top ten starting with Agustin Amigo's "Lennon's Glasses"!

Daryl Shawn, thank you again for making my Monday mornings a very special and exciting part of every week!

And that's it for another "This Week in Fingerstyle" by Daryl Shawn who every week puts together "the most exciting playlist on Spotify"!
