In the midst of the current COVID-19 "worldwide madness" out there, it seems even more important to find some normalcy in our routines: Daryl Shawn has come through for us with "This Week in Fingerstyle" on time and beautiful as always!

"The most exciting playlist on Spotify" reloaded again for a great Monday morning! "This Week in Fingerstyle" curated by Daryl Shawn is where you'll find the absolute best that true "Indie" has to offer in the world of fingerstyle! Daryl does all the selecting of the tunes, I just make a few comments. Put your headphones on or AirPods in and disappear into these wonderful sounds as we check out what gems Daryl found for us this week!

First up is "Aneto" by the brilliant Tommy Berre! The perfect song to listen to on Monday morning when everything seems upside down & topsy-turvy! Tommy's gift for sweet melody shines through as always! Just a beautiful song! When many of us may be stuck at home right now, Tommy gives us audio beauty to help keep our minds focused on something better! Thank you Tommy!

"Falling Stars" by Allen & Bright (Lance Allen & Avery Bright") is another calm port in a worldwide storm. This team of world-class musicians is producing some of their best work ever and this track from "The Afterglow" is "big picture movie track quality". At 3:40 long it has the chance to develop a little more than a lot of today's shorter pieces. Tremendous piece from beginning to end! Grab a seat under the stars and enjoy!

"Day Break" is the talented Lance Takamiya's newest original slack key piece that puts us in the frame of mind to just swing in a hammock watching the viridescent Hawaiian fields and palm trees swaying in a slight breeze. This one has the "island sound" that you will immediately recognize and enjoy! Mahalo Lance!

"Plume (Folk Guitar)" by Note Only is a unique piece by a young French composer who gives us a lovely "experiment" piece: one of four pieces all following the same chord progression with different instruments. This "Folk Guitar" piece falls beautifully in the "new age" category! Well done!

"Struggle for pleasure - Guitar Version" by Wim Mertens & Pierluigi Colangelo is a "symphony" by just two performers who produce something that sounds like a complete dynamic orchestra! Captivating from start to finish this one will leave you spinning! Tremendous!

"Misty Mountains" by RAY has an "Apalachian" or "mountain" feel from the first note! This one only lasts 1:21 so enjoy it while it lasts! Amazing what emotion there is in this short piece. Love it!

"My Mary of the Curling Hair" is a traditional celtic air that is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard but seems rarely performed. I've wanted to record this song since I first heard it played over 20 years ago. I'm honored to find it in "This Week" just in time for St. Patrick's Day!

"Neolothic" by Ben Abrahamson is a virtual wall of sound that Ben manages to tame and control leaving us with a "Wow!" feeling! Totaling engulfing and captivating!

"Visa från Utanmyura (Acoustic Guitar)" is Jon Magnusson Monreal's entry into the acoustic guitar world with the moniker "Georg Nielsen" and what an entry! Based on traditional music, this piece has a fun but also slightly sad feeling that Jon manages through a slight dissonance reminiscent of John Fahey. My ears are left wanting more!!

The final new piece this week is Kurt Lanham's cover of "Michelle"! Lovely, slightly haunting and true to the feeling of the original, Kurt gives us a lovely version of this classic! A wonderfully nostalgic to close out the new top ten of "This Week"!

And don't stop there! Remember that all the past selections follow the new top ten starting with Agustin Amigo's fantastic rendition of the the the Van Halen classic "Jump!" A rousing way to get us started on a new week!

Daryl Shawn, thank you again for making my Monday mornings a very special and exciting part of every week!

And that's it for another "This Week in Fingerstyle" by Daryl Shawn who every week puts together "the most exciting playlist on Spotify"!

Remember to "Follow/Heart/Like" the playlist that Daryl Shawn so painstakingly creates every week!
