"The most exciting playlist on Spotify" reloaded again for a great Monday morning! "This Week in Fingerstyle" curated by Daryl Shawn! Daryl does all the selecting of the tunes, I just make a few comments. Put your headphones on or AirPods in and disappear into these wonderful sounds as we check out what gems Daryl found for us this week!

First up is "Mountain Sunrise" by the inimitable Ken Verheecke and it is indeed perfectly named! Fresh and light, with the beautiful hope that each new dawn brings especially in the mountains! I can visualize the first rays peek over the still snow-capped mountains and begin to fill the meadows as I listen to this one. Another beauty Ken!

"I Miss You" by Luca Stricagnoli brings us back to the city with an intensity! Powerful, with a beat that will wake you up, this one will substitute for that first cup of coffee! It is amazing what Luca can do with a guitar! Wow!

"Dream of Spain" by one of today's most prolific artists, the great Tommy Berre, is true to Tommy's artistry! This has that sweet, slightly melancholic sound that will put visions of Spain in your head regardless the time of day! Every week I wonder how Tommy can consistently create such beautiful tunes again & again, never disappointing! Simply wonderful and inspiring Tommy Berre!

"You and Me up on the Hill" by Lyle Brewer is light and fun and evokes clear images of two carefree kids at play and free "up on the Hill"! This one brings a happy smile on a Monday morning! Nicely done!

And then I find my own just-released "Liliko'i" on my favorite playlist! "Liliko'i" is Hawaiian for passion fruit: a tangy, tart, but slightly sweet and delicious tropical fruit that I indulge in every time I find myself on the island of Maui. This tune was inspired by the receipt of my new Hawaiian-themed koa guitar built by Nick Kukich and came to me when this beautiful guitar was just 15 minutes out of the box! Slow tempo, calm, and peaceful; hopefully it puts a smile on your face like the savory liliko'i fruit does for me!

"Armistice" by Ciel Blue is beautiful flamenco that will take you flying with it into the blue sky! Just beautiful!

"Mrs. Robinson" by Simon Wahl is a tantalizing & satisfying cover of one of the most iconic songs of the 60's. It's really tough to do a great cover of a song that is so thoroughly burned into our collective consciousness, but Simon pulls it off with ease and finesse! Great job Simon!

"Familiar" is by Lunng Fern who has a style and sound that melds flamenco, gypsy and a few other unique elements into his own absolutely beautiful and delicious sound. Whether playing a slow or fast piece few artists can dig this deep and draw out the intense longing desire that Lunng manages. One of my favorite artists since I first discovered Lunng's music a year ago, he continues to deliver & impress with every new release!

"Scarlotti Sonata K53" is beautiful baroque at it's best! With perfect execution Ewan Dobson delivers a wonderful rendition of this 200 year old piece. Wonderful & thrilling!

And Marcelo Berestovoy closes out the new top ten with the delightful "Blackbird" of Paul McCartney. Just about every one who has picked up a guitar in the last 50 years has taken a stab at learning this iconic song and most of us settle for attempting to play it just as McCartney wrote it (and that is difficult enough!). Marcelo takes the tune much further and adds his own unique style on nylon string with a result that will have you hearing this standard tune in a brand new and thrilling way! Well done Marcelo!

And that completes the new top ten for this week and this decade! You will now find all the past "This Week in Fingerstyle" music following this week's new ten so you can enjoy all that this wonderful playlist has brought to the world of fingerstyle! Enjoy!

Daryl Shawn, thank you again for making my Monday mornings a very special and exciting part of every week!
