"The most exciting playlist on Spotify" reloaded again for a great Monday morning! "This Week in Fingerstyle" curated by Daryl Shawn is where you'll find the absolute best that true "Indie" has to offer in the world of fingerstyle! Daryl does all the selecting of the tunes, I just make a few comments. Put your headphones on or AirPods in and disappear into these wonderful sounds as we check out what gems Daryl found for us this week!

First up is "Southwind" with Edy Hafler and Agustin Amigo teaming up to create another beautiful lyrical wonder! These two, either alone or in duet, are creating some of today's best music. Just sit back and relish in the bright inspiring melody! Go Edy & Agustin!

"Oak Lane" by Vin Downes is as good as today's guitar gets. "Oak Lane" is song #4 on Vin's just released "Good Light to Go By". The finesse, guitar skill, composition and melody of this song and this entire album definitely places it in the "best album of the year" category even though it was released in early January and we still have ten months to go. It just doesn't get any better than this! Get the album and really sink your teeth into this entire  masterpiece!

"Transition" by Spare Planet (Heiko Lohmann) is elegant guitar blended with just a bit of piano and other instruments to produce a smooth mix that relaxes the mind and soothes the soul!

"A Slow Blues in a Noisy World" by Ulli Boegershausen starts out sparse and moves into a sweet blend of guitars and tantalizing runs & arpeggios that will leave you on the edge of your seat! Just a slight percussive beat reveals how a master guitarist of most every genre uses this often controversial technique. A wonderful lesson in addition to an exquisite song. Thank you Ulli!

"Opaque Horizon" by Canadian Alan Shoesmith is both seductive and sweet as Alan shows us that there is a lot of music welled up inside him ready to escape and burst into the world the minute he is free of the mundane 8-5 (and it's happening soon). A beautiful glimpse of what's to come: I can't wait for the many more!

"Falling" by relative newcomer Vadim Kobal originally from Latvia, now residing in Denmark, has this talented young guitarist introducing me in beautiful fingerstyle form to the music of Harry Styles! It's a really beautiful cover!!! Well done Vadim!!

"Fantasy Five" by world fusion master Mathew Joseph is another in a long line of pieces that reveal just what "world fusion" means: that this artist is simply too talented for any one genre moniker and "world fusion" is the only term that adequately describes his multi-faceted range! With a clear 60's folk feeling but a 2020 finesse and depth, Mathew takes us on a blended guitar journey that virtually flies over hill & dale across the world as if to say he and this song are at home anywhere on the planet. A truly tremendous work by this master. I am awed at the diversity and depth that Mathew brings to the world of music. Simply incredible!

"Skye Boat Song" is my own version of the ever-popular traditional Scottish Air. You will recognize "Skye Boat Song" as the theme music for the hugely popular TV series "Outlander". Slow, lyrical and soaring in typical "celtic air" fashion I give this one a solid bass structure that gives it an unmistakable Scottish feeling. Recorded at "eTown Hall Recording Studio" on a custom Franklin Jumbo guitar, this may be my best all-around recording to date and I am grateful and so happy to find it here on "This Week!". Hope you enjoy it!

"Ebb and Flow" by Vincent Bunnicelli does just that in superb fashion! A wonderful piece that reminds me of the ebb and flow of tide pools and then builds into a more lively brazilian dance sound. A creative and astute segue that works wonderfully! Nice!

"Open Doors" is the first of many to come by the second moniker, "Fin Moon", of multi-instrumentalist par excellence John Clark. John is a master of many talents with superb compositional skill that is on full display with this new all acoustic moniker. What an entry! A gritty, driving acoustic beauty! As if enough doors are not already open for this incredible musician who simply cannot be contained, 2020 is going to be a year where you won't find a closed door for Fin Moon! Watch for much more to come! Well done!

Daryl Shawn, thank you again for making my Monday mornings a very special and exciting part of every week!
