"The most exciting playlist on Spotify" reloaded again for a great Monday morning, and the first of the new decade! "This Week in Fingerstyle" curated by Daryl Shawn! Daryl does all the selecting of the tunes, I just make a few comments. Put your headphones on or AirPods in and disappear into these wonderful sounds as we check out what gems Daryl found for us this week!

First up is "Anthem" by Jurg Kindle and Peter Lainson! So what's better than one master guitarist? Two together of course! With Jurg in Switzerland, and Peter in Nebraska, they spanned the continent to create this poignant & emotional piece and capture something truly beautiful with wonderful guitar, a mandolin! Masterpiece!

"Left Alone" is the new original by Casper Esmann. It immediately struck me as one of the best songs I've heard in a while & I put it at the top of all my guitar playlists. Here's what I wrote in my blog "So, about a year ago I really got into the fingerstyle world and have been lucky enough to get to know many of the best there are on the planet right now. There are so many "greats" right now that it is difficult to keep up with all of their work, but today I'm doing a shoutout for Casper Esmann who I consider to be one of today's absolute best! There is a brilliance to his guitar work and an emotional pull in his compositions that always brings either a smile or chills at the stunning quality of his work! (And the treble range always "glitters"!) "Left Alone" is featured at the top spot on all my guitar playlists: it's that good! Give "Left Alone" by Casper Esmann a listen right now and let me know what you think."

"Sunrise in Rio" by Denis Turbide & Mark Grundhoefer is fun, brazilian-influenced wonderfulness! If you can't get to Rio, put this on and go there for a short audio vacay!

"Her Theme" by Jack Haigh, who always dazzles, is exquisite brilliance with rich bass and sparkling treble! This woman must indeed be something! Sophisticated, balanced and in total control with not a moment of overbearance!

"Eleanor Rigby" is the Beatles cover by the wonderful Cim Frode. I love everything that Cim has done and this is another to add to the lost list! Wonderful!

"Both Sides the Tweed" by Ulli Boegershausen is a cover of the singular Dick Gaughan political ballad song that is haunting, tender and melancholy as only Celtic music manages. Really beautiful!

"Embers" by Victor Howe is a stunningly beautiful and balanced piece on nylon string guitar. Vic tapped into something really beautiful and romantic with this one. A treat!

"Galahad" by Chris Chambers is a "mid-show" piece that is perfect after you've already stunned and entertained the audience and now it's time to get into a piece and chew on it, develop it, and pull the audience even closer. This one truly captured me Chris!

"Going Home" by Mark Kroos is a wonderful guitar version of Dvorak's melody from Symphony No. 9. Done solo on guitar this just let's you bask in the simplicity of this sublime melody. Mark nailed it!!!

"Epilogue" is the guitar version of this beautiful song by Chris Embers played in a duet with Jakob Henriques. A powerful piece that is almost overwhelming with emotion and a beautiful way to close out the new top ten of "This Week"!

And that completes the new top ten for this week and this decade! You will now find all the past "This Week in Fingerstyle" music following this week's new ten so you can enjoy all that this wonderful playlist has brought to the world of fingerstyle! Enjoy!

Daryl Shawn, thank you again for making my Monday mornings a very special and exciting part of every week!
