"The most exciting playlist on Spotify" reloaded again for a great Monday morning, and the first of the new decade! "This Week in Fingerstyle" curated by Daryl Shawn! Daryl does all the selecting of the tunes, I just make a few comments. Put your headphones on or AirPods in and disappear into these wonderful sounds as we check out what gems Daryl found for us this week!

First up is "Kite" by Ken Verheecke who makes us all feel like we can fly when he puts fingers to strings! A beautiful song in the ethereal, aery-heights style of Ken! If you want to feel good on a Monday morning, put this one on and soar like you were meant to! (I may have stolen that line from Ken himself!)

With Aurah Daryl managed again to find yet another group I was not familiar with, and what wonderful stuff! "Pleasant Placidness" is low and rumbling with a hint of mideastern style that takes you outside the walls of hallowed halls around the world.

"The Gloaming at Grassy Point" by Tom Wasinger has an Appalachian feel on slide guitar that is perfect for that first song in the morning as you struggle to get out of bed and long for that first cup of coffee!

"City of Water" by August Flendahl is the latest by this prolific artist and has that sweet, emotional pull that August always manages to deliver! Just beautiful!

"Van Stollen" by Basil Wahn, if I recall correctly, is a piece Basil wrote to commemorate a particularly delicious stollen and no one will ever forget it! Delicious!!!

"Summer Afternoon" by Vincent Bunnicelli is light, happy, feel-good music! Your feet will be moving with the beat and want to get up and take a stroll to this lovely tune!

"Song For Ezra" by the incredible Derek Brookshire is his long-awaited latest release. With perfect rhythm and playing this one takes me back to the sixties when there was a wonderful merging of folk, complexity & innovation. With a great melody there is also enough going on with Derek's tremendous guitar work to keep me pricking up my ears and squinting slightly as I try to figure out exactly how Derek manages this! It's been too long Derek since your last piece! Will savor this one and anxiously await the next one!

"Adrift" by Robert Dahlstr successfully evokes that "drifting aimlessly at sea without a breeze" feeling. Haunting but not scary with a knowledge that the breeze will come soon and you will be back on your way! Really great piece that is perfect as I sit here next to the calm Hawaiian pacific ocean! Thank you Robert!

"French Summer" by Aske Stampe manages that enticing percussive beat with a delightful treble melody and some tremendous fingerstyle work! Love this one!

And closing it out this week is "I Forget" by Realizer with a sleepy, dreamy work that just sort of floats at cloud level and lulls you into a hypnotic state. This is perfect afternoon-sit-by-the-ocean with a glass of cold white wine music! You've outdone yourself again Matt!

And that completes the new top ten for this week and this decade! You will now find all the past "This Week in Fingerstyle" music following this week's new ten so you can enjoy all that this wonderful playlist has brought to the world of fingerstyle! Enjoy!

Daryl Shawn, thank you again for making my Monday mornings a very special and exciting part of every week!

And that's it for another "This Week in Fingerstyle" by Daryl Shawn who every week puts together "the most exciting playlist on Spotify"!
