"The most exciting playlist on Spotify" reloaded again for a great Monday morning! "This Week in Fingerstyle" curated by Daryl Shawn! Put your headphones on or AirPods in and disappear into these wonderful sounds!
First up is "Memoria Andaluza" by Agustin Amigo & Tommy Berre! Two of my favorite guitarists/composers who each seem to have a never-ending well of inspiration. This is another! What a treat to have them both together!
"Silver Lining" by Andy Salvanos & Matt Tondut is part of the Valley View Records stellar recent Compilation Album "Dream Chasers, Vol. 1". One of the great tracks on this album and now released as a single. Andy & Matt combine to give us something truly wonderful! Well done!
"An Awakened Dream" by Ken Verheeke is pure Ken! Lovely, poignant and all said in beautiful "guitarese"! Ken just has a way of bringing out the beauty in everything he touches. Beautiful!
"California Girls", the Beach Boys cover, by the great Lance Allen! This is a wonderful version that works that right thumb on the bass in a way that will get you dancing! Love it Lance!
"Memory" by Matt Harp demands attention! Tremendous modern technique all developing this beautiful melody! That's the way it should be done! Fantastic Matt!
"We Bloomed in Autumn" is Nylonwings' (David Westin) newest and it just shines! Beautiful nylon guitar that sails and soars with a beautiful melody and luscious trills! I love this one!
"Tears In Heaven" by Collin Hill & Casper Esmann give this Eric Clapton cover a brand new feel! These two are some of the best guitarists in the world today and the way they remake this classic is inspiring & brilliant! A perfect cover!
"Drifting Away" by Will Moore hits you right in the middle of the chest with tremendous guitar, well-calculated pauses and a really brilliant use of harmonics. Like a perfect recipe, everything is measured out to perfection to create a masterpiece!
"You've Got a Friend" is Rick Cyge's rendition of the wonderful Carole King/James Taylor classic. A truly wonderful job of a song that has been done so many times it's difficult to give it something new: Rick manages to give this classic something new indeed. Tremendous job Rick!
And "This Week" closes out the new top ten with Michelle Qureshi's "When We Looked Away" from her new Sage Album. Whether "Sage" refers to the spice or wisdom itself, Michelle has it all! Another beautiful tune that swings like a pendulum filling the air with beautiful music. Beautiful Michelle!
