"The most exciting playlist on Spotify" reloaded again for a great Monday morning! "This Week in Fingerstyle" curated by Daryl Shawn! Put your headphones on or AirPods in and disappear into these wonderful sounds!
First up is "Birimintingo" by the master of many genres, Jim "Kimo" West! What an entrancing thrill! Improvised solo runs to thrill any shredder but done with the calm presence of Master West so that if you close your eyes you will find yourself firmly in West Africa. From the main guitarist for Weird Al Yankovich, who is also one of today's slack-key greats, this piece is truly wonderful!
When Glenn Roth does a cover, it's not just a cover! Glenn meticulously reworks the song to both give us something new and thrill us with a familiar melody. I don't know anyone who does covers better than Glenn and this rendition of "Everybody Wants to Rule The World" indeed puts him in that spot as ruler! Great work as always Glenn!
"Daydreamer" by Emilio Bonito has the unique sound of the incredibly talented and emotionally evocative Emilio, but showing more of that continuing emotional development, depth and maturity. Sweet, strong, with just a touch of haunting, this piece starts to really dig deep into that emotional well that Emilio has to offer. He is one of my favorite artists and just keeps getting better with each new release! This is just tremendous Emilio!
"Path" by Todd Warner Moore has that "Appalachian new age" feel & sound, that just relaxes you and takes your mind to your favorite folk festival! Then he throws in a touch of electric guitar halfway through like an exclamation mark that keeps you hooked and won't let you drift off. The perfect "end of summer" piece!
"The Odyssey" by Casper Esmann & Collin Hill features two of the best on earth teamed up with an original piece that shows off both the skill and the exquisite technique of these two incredible artists. The distinctive sounds of both Casper & Collin come through clear but swirl & merge together like the perfect topping on an artistic Cappuccino! Absolutely love this one!
"Banks of the Bann" is my own solo fingerstyle version of the traditional Celtic tune. It is truly an honor to again find my newest piece here on my favorite playlist with some of my favorite artists and friends. Thank you Daryl Shawn, I am again honored & humbled.
"Beside Me Now" is signature Michelle Qureshi from her newest album "Sage". This is one of nine pieces from her newest album that deserves hours of play on repeat just to thrill you and let you enjoy the sounds of this completely at ease artist whose music exudes peace and fulfillment! "Beside Me Now" is like a walk through a magical garden where anything is possible and fairies fluttering from flower to flower wouldn't even raise an eyebrow! Peace and tranquility perfected Michelle!
Mark Kroos & Judson Hurd team up for "High and Dry" with one of the most satisfying guitar/piano duos I've heard. A beautiful, airy melody that is well-rooted but soars with both artists seeming to reach into the clouds for a thrilling sound full of hope and promise! Truly tremendous and another piece that gives us a full four minutes to enjoy!
"Deep Blue" by Jack Haigh feels like sailing far out at sea with glittering calm ripples where time stands still and nothing breaks consciousness except the water and its reflections. With harmonics that perfectly mimic the sunlight dancing off the calm ripples of the deep blue, this piece lets you sail 1,000 miles from land without ever leaving home! Beautiful Jack!
